Dal Kessler

Dal Kessler, 77, of 1207 Kirkwood Ave., died at his home Tuesday after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the George L. Gay Funereal Home with burial in the Lone Tree Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Tevis of Solon will officiate.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.

Mr. Kessler was born Aug. 15, 1903, in Solon, a son of Lewis and Dora Schley Kessler.

He married Helen Patten, Jan 24, 1924. She died in 1954. He married Irene M. Parizek, Feb 18, 1955, in Nashua.

He was employed at the Hutchison Ice Cream Co. in Iowa City, and later worked in the University of Iowa General Stores Department for 15 years before retiring in 1970.

Survivors include his wife; a step-daughter, Mrs. J.D. (Betty) Rowell of Amarillo, Texas; one grandson; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Nettie) Strub and Mrs. Joe (Neva) Buchmayer, both of Iowa City.

Three brothers died earlier.
