Scott D. Spicer, 18 of rural Solon died Monday at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Visitation will be from 5 to 9pm Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Scott's memory at the discretion of the family. Scott Dickinson Spicer was born April 15, 1990, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Rex Dickinson and Alice Helena (Krause) Spicer. Scott was currently a senior at Solon High School. He has been active in many activities in his years in the Solon Community Schools, from school plays, high school choir, Vella Voce Choir, a member of the high school football team for the past four years, their team winning a state championship and as runner-up in this period. He was inducted into the National Honor Society, and enjoyed his new membership into Food Club at school. He played baseball in Mt. Vernon, and was a member of College for Kids. Scott was also very active in his church, Christ The King Lutheran Church in Iowa City. He worked as the church sexton, was an acolyte, communion assistant, and treasurer of the senior high group. Scott from his youth enjoyed building paper airplanes, playing with his dogs, Lady and Wiggles, and just hanging with his best friends.

His family includes his parents, Alice and Rex Spicer of Solon; half-brother and his wife, Rex St. John Spicer and Jennifer of Iowa City, and their children, Grant, Holly, and Violet. Scott's grandparents, Rachel and Robert Krause of Fenton, IA; Aunts and Uncles, Anne and Don Swift of Yankton, SD, Marian Kalmabach of Annapolis, MD, John and Kelly Krause of San Diego, CA, Robert and Vickie Krause of Fairfield, IA; cousins, Elizabeth Swift, Rebecca Culhane, Laurel Krause, Janelle Krause, Mary Katherine Branning, Robert Holland, Beth Jordan, and Patti Bush.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellen and Rixey Spicer.
