Carol L. Reese, 64 of 1115 Pickard Street, Iowa City died at her home Monday, April 31, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Tim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Carol's memory. Carol Lynn Schneberger Reese was born July 11, 1943, in Richmond, VA, the daughter of Dr. Cletus and Ruby H. (Sapp) Schneberger. Her family moved to Clinton, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1961, went on to The University of Iowa where she received her BA degree in Spanish and English Literature. She was united in marriage to Gerald L. Reese on August 20, 1971. She worked in the Business Office at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for a number of years before her two children were born. After raising them she went back to work, first as an aide in the Iowa City Community School District. Later and until declining health forced her retirement, she worked as an Research Assistant in the Agricultural Health Study through the College of Public Health at the Oakdale Campus of The University of Iowa.

Carol enjoyed life, her infectious smile was cherished by all. She loved cooking, reading, watching old movies and art. Carol was an active supporter of the Riverside Community Theatre, and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church since her confirmation on February 12, 1978.

Her family includes her two children, William "Bill" Reese of Iowa City, and Rebecca "Becky" Reese of St. Louis, MO; her brother, Steve Schneberger of Iowa City; and her beloved aunts and cousins. Her parents have preceded her in death.
