Robert J. "Bob" Gordon, age 70 of 1833 C Street, Iowa City died Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Greenwood Care Center in Iowa City from complications of cancer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private family services will be held on Wednesday with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to Iowa City Hospice. Robert James Gordon was born October 16, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Donal E. "Chuck" Gordon and Margaret Reed Gordon. Following graduation from Iowa City City High School in 1956, Bob served in the Iowa National Guard for nearly ten years. For many years he drove truck for AMF Lawn & Garden Company in Des Moines, retiring nearly twenty years ago. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #'s 238, 147, and 142. Bob enjoyed woodworking, handyman stuff around the house and for others, gardening, and was a huge fan of NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon!

His family includes; four brothers, Donal Gordon and his wife, Myrna of North Liberty, Gary Gordon of Waterloo, Richard Gordon and his wife, Sheryl of Iowa City and John Gordon and his wife, Mary of Iowa City; nine nieces and nephews, Kapra Hefley, Mundi McCarty, Kelley Fedler, Kim Gordon, Ryan Gordon, Joe Gordon, T.J. Gordon, Megan Laing, and Jeff Gordon; seven great-nieces and nephews, Reed, Grace, Mac, Jack, Kyle, Kayla, and Greta.
