John F. “Jack” or “Hump” Lee, age 72 of Iowa City died Tuesday, December 23, 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a sudden illness.

A service of remembrance for Jack will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. The Reverend Nancy English will lead these services. From 4 to 7 pm Saturday family and friends are encouraged to be present at the funeral home for a time of sharing ad support for Jack’s family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory.

“Jack” was born May 23, 1930, in Iowa City the son of Richard W. and Martha Oeschger Lee. As a lifetime resident of Iowa City, he has been involved with many things in the area. Many will remember him working in the construction field, many will also remember him as an entrepreneur, making, developing, and seeing through many projects for family and friends. He married Marian L. Cole, April 7, 1955, in Iowa City.

His family includes his wife, Marian; sons and their wives, John and Libby Lee of Coralville, Richard and Kay Lee of Walford, Iowa, and Peter and Deb Lee of England; four daughters, Kathleen and her husband, Kevin Schnoebelen of Riverside, Colleen and her husband, Jim Ackerman of Lyton, Iowa, Caroline Lee Owens of Letts, Iowa and Mary Kay Lee of Des Moines; fourteen grandchildren, Abigail, John “Buzz”, Jacob, Jenny, Amanda and Barbara Lee, Kurt, Kyle “K.J.”, and Kory Schnoebelen, Josh, Jerry and Carrie Ackerman, and Gregory and Martin Owens; brother and his wife, Richard ‘Dick” and Jan Lee of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Marge Lee of Iowa City and Pat Lee of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert john and William Robert Lee

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Jack’s family and his services.
