Pauline E. Anderson, 98 formerly of Des Moines died Monday, December 31, 2007, at the Meth-Wick Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Parkview Evangelical Free Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Steve Rachke officiating. Burial will be at the Indian Creek Cemetery near Columbus Junction, Iowa. Visitation will be after 10am Saturday until services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to Meth-Wick Manor Care Center. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com.

Pauline Estella Whicher was born March 1, 1909, in Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of William E. and Leila (Shellabarger) Whicher. Following graduation from Burlington High School, Burlington, Iowa she attended Burlington Junior College and later she received her B.A. degree from The University of Iowa in 1932, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Prior to her marriage, she taught junior high school math in the Burlington area. She married H. Sanford Anderson in 1940 in Burlington. For over twenty years she taught math in the Des Moines Public School System retiring in 1974. After her retirement she worked at Younkers in Des Moines for a number of years, and enjoyed doing volunteer work and playing bridge with her friends. While living in the Des Moines area she was a member of the West Kirk Presbyterian Church in Urbandale; and has been a longtime member of TTT.

Her family includes her children, Nancy Fischer and her husband, Gary of Iowa City; and Kermit Anderson and his wife, Becky of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Suzanne Gainer (Patrick) of Eldridge, IA, Rebecca Kastendick (Kurt) of Iowa City, Kristen Mathew (John) of Overland Park, KS, Matthew Fischer of Iowa City, Jeff Anderson of Chicago, IL, Jon Anderson, Brian Anderson and Kelly Anderson all of West Des Moines; her brother, William Whicher and his wife, Helen of Belleville, IL; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
