Louise M. “Cissy” Brown, 83 of Tiffin died Monday, December 31, 2007, at her home following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2008, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin with the Reverend Beverly Marshall-Goodell officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Tiffin Fire Department, Grace United Methodist Church or Iowa City Hospice. Louise Marie Chapman was born April 3, 1924, in Tiffin, Iowa the daughter of Archie and Allie (Newmire) Chapman. She was a 1942 graduate of Tiffin High School. On May 1, 1943 she married Ralph Brown in Lincoln, NE. Cissy worked at The University of Iowa Dental Clinic, at Spivey’s Saloon in Tiffin, and later after her children were raised at Sheller-Globe in Iowa City from 1973 until 1986 when she retired. She has faithfully attended Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin and served on numerous meal functions over the years until her Parkinson’s disease prevented her from doing so.
Her family includes her husband, Ralph; four children, Dennis Brown (Wendy) of Central City, IA, Christine Lauderbaugh (Richard) of York, NE, Pamela Kinney of Iowa City, and Connie Brown of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, David Brown (Dyan), Ryan Brown (Nicole), Tammy Lauderbaugh-Breuer (Joe), Michael Lauderbaugh, Susan Lauderbaugh, James Kinney, TJ Kinney (Renae) and Stacy Kinney; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Brown, Devin Brown, Danielle Brown, Aiden Kinney, and Matthew Brown; sister-in-law, June Brown of Chesapeake, VA; several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Betty Madden of Tiffin.
Cissy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Harold Chapman, John Chapman, Carl Chapman, and Reba Chapman.
