Mary M. Price, 95 of 701 Oaknoll Drive, Iowa City died Friday, November 30, 2007, at the Oaknoll Retirement Residence.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Paul Akin officiating. (Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for the streets around the church) A private family burial will be at South English Cemetery in South English, Iowa. Memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church or Project Green at the Civic Center, 410 Washington St. Iowa City. Mary Margaret Slate was born February 28, 1912, in South English, Iowa the daughter of Hurlbert and Martha (Evans) Slate. Following graduation from South English High School in 1929, she received her Nurse's Training from Broadlawns School of Nursing in Des Moines. On April 1, 1934, she married H. Vernon Price at her parent's home in South English. She lived in South English until their marriage at which time they moved to Iowa City where Mary did private duty nursing for years, and also worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. For more then 60 years she worked as a nurse and lent her caring hand as a volunteer in many different organizations.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Chapter E of PEO, Herbert Hoover Library; and Project Green. Mary was an avid bridge player, bowler, golfer, gardener, world traveler, and great party hostess. She loved Iowa City and all the culture that surrounds it. In her last years she retired at Oaknoll where she enjoyed living among her many friends.

Mary had a warm personality, positive attitude and great spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mary's family would like to offer a special thanks to Oaknoll Retirement Residence and Iowa City Hospice for all their caring help.

Her family includes a son, Robert Vernon Price and his wife, Elizabeth of Belleair, FL; daughter, Margaret Ann Sneeringer and her husband, Stephen L. of Spotsylvania, VA; five grandchildren, Robert Price, Elizabeth Jeffris, Paige Blankenship, Megan Price, Mary Elizabeth Price, and; five great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Vernon Price, son, John Price; and five brothers.
