Gloria Hunzinger of 1205 Ginter Avenue, Iowa City died at her home, Saturday, December 7, 2002 having succumbed to complications of emphysema...

Funeral services will be held at 6pm Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with Judy Gingerich officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed for Meals on Wheels program through Elderly Services of Johnson County.

Mrs. Hunzinger was born November 4, 1925 in Superior, Iowa one of three children born to Alexander and Julia (Quamme) Lewis. She graduated from Superior High School in 1943, attended college and for a short period worked for the FBI in Washington, DC. She was married to C. Frank Smith until his death in 1961. She later married W.E. “Red” Hunzinger. He died May 7, 2001.
For over twenty years, Gloria worked for R.M. Boggs Company, a local mechanical Contractor.

Her family includes her children, Michael and his wife, Judy Hunzinger of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas and his wife, Marguerite Hunzinger of Racine, WI, Mark and his wife, Kelly Smith of Iowa City, Kimberly and her husband, Benno Lotz of Salt Lake City, UT, Christine Hunzinger of Newton, and Kent and his wife, Debbie Smith of Cedar Bluff; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother, Warren Lewis of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Jan and her husband, Carroll Duncan of Cedar Rapids, and mother-in-law, Fern Hunzinger of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and both husbands.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Gloria’s services and her family.
