Dorotha D. Harding Gonterman, age 72 of North Liberty died Monday, December 2, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Dorotha was born April 13, 1930 in Iowa County, Iowa , the daughter of Fred and Nora (Wiebold) Walters. For a number of years she worked for the Cedar Rapids Community Schools driving a school bus, later she worked for the Corps of Engineers in grounds maintained, and for many years, she has continued to work for Weber Elementary School in Iowa City. She loved children, involving herself in the North Liberty Share Program. In addition, many will remember her in the Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Hills area for her love of bingo, many considering her a “professional”.

Her family includes sons, Gary and his wife, Penny Harding of Iowa City, Robert Harding of Iowa City, Bill and his wife, Barbara Harding of Des Moines, Kenneth and his wife, Amy Harding of Iowa City, Timothy and his wife, Elisa Harding of Wimberley, TX, and Joseph and his wife, Marilyn Bush of Miami, FL; daughters, Audrey and her husband, Chris Fountain of Iowa City, Michele Behrens of North Liberty, and Lisa Bush of North Liberty; twenty-one grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers, William and his wife, Ruth Walters of Iowa City, Melvin and his wife, Mildred Walters of Tiffin, and Lawrence and his wife, MaryAnn Walters of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Velma, and two husbands, Paul W. Harding and Mervin Gonterman.
