Kathryn J. Keeley, 82, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics from complications of a fall, with her family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, October 6th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with Reverend Jeff Belger officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5th from 4-8pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City where a rosary will be recited at 4pm and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the Regina Catholic Community Foundation.

Kathryn was born October 29, 1924 in Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph & Charlotte (Miller)
Rummelhart. She attended St. Mary’s High School, later graduating in 1942. Kathryn attended Irish Business College. She married Maurice Keeley June 14, 1948 in Iowa City.

Kathryn worked for the University of Iowa Physical Plant for over 30 years retiring in 1986.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the America’s, Naim Club and St. Mary’s Altar & Rosary Society.

Kathryn will be remembered for her love of morning walks, the Iowa Hawkeyes, casino trips and playing cards. Right before her accident, she was doing something she loved: spending time with her good friends and playing euchre. Her children will always remember the many traditions that made family time special, like Christmas stockings, birthday cakes and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen Cornish of Iowa City, Mary Irey (Rich) of Coralville, David Keeley (Darren Peterson) of Iowa City and Jean Keeley of Iowa City; two sisters, Loretta Kantor and Gertrude Miller, both of Iowa City; sister in law Frieda Rummelhart of Iowa City, three grandchildren, Sean Seaton, Darryl Cornish and Elizabeth Cornish and two great grandchildren Patrick and Reagan Seaton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Dan, three brothers, George, Leo & John, and two sisters Tillie Shrader and Edith Brysch.
