Timothy John Mulcahy, 59 of Iowa City died at his home Monday, September 24, 2007, of a courageous battle with cancer.
Timothy was born May 4, 1948, in Iowa City, the son of Dennis Edward and Helen Elizabeth (Konrad) Mulcahy. He graduated from Regina High School in 1966. Tim then attended University of Iowa. On December 21, 1968, he married Vicki O'Brien in Iowa City. Tim was a member of the Army Reserves, then worked as a carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He later opened Hawkeye Speed Equipment where he supplied parts and equipment for drag cars.
Tim had been a member of the Corvette Club, and the NHRA. He was also a valued member of the Iowa City 8-Ball League, where his team the Speak Easy Eagles placed 2nd earlier this year.
He enjoyed Drag Races at Cordova Speedway, playing pool with his friends and always cheered on his favorite teams the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye's. He will be deeply missed by many friends and family.
Tim is survived his two daughters, Angela Mulcahy of Iowa City and Catherine (Jeff) Janssen, and their son, J.T. of Phoenix, AZ; his brother, Mike (Julia) Mulcahy of Moncks Corner, SC; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held from 2 to 5pm Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Eagles Lodge @ 225 Highway 1 west in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @www.gayandciha.com.
