Donald E.(Coonie) Crow, 95, lifelong Oxford area farmer died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, at the Windham Community Church near Windham. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A reception for family and friends will be held following the graveside services Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Donald's memory to the Windham Community Church. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com.
Donald Eugene Crow was born August 25, 1911, near Oxford, Iowa the son of Frank N. and Norma (Oldaker) Crow. He graduated from Cosgrove High School in 1932. On February 17, 1938, he married Marie C. Curry in Dubuque, Iowa. Donald has spent his lifetime farming, and raising Hereford Cattle; he was one of those farmers that never quite retired. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, supporting his church, Windham Community Church, for many years, but most of all his love for his family was foremost in his life.
Donald's family includes his loving and caring wife of sixty-nine years, Marie; daughter, Judy Seaton and her husband, Larry of Oxford; granddaughter, Brigitte Olson and her husband, Jeff of Iowa City; great-grandchildren, Jack, Katie, and Rachel Olson; sisters, Helen Day of Garden Grove, IA, and Jeanne Yoder and her husband, Ted of Camanche, IA; brother, Dean Crow and his wife, Helen of Oxford; sister-in-law, Ada Crow of Oxford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leslie Crow; sister, Margaret Kasper and her husband, Bob; and brother-in-law, Bill Day.
