Paul S. McKibben Sr. age 61 of 985 Applewood Court, Coralville, died Friday, November 8, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Mark Martin and Michael Raleigh officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, and after 9:30 a.m., Tuesday until services at the church. Masonic Memorial Services will be held at 7pm Monday evening followed by O.E.S. Memorial Services at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Additional visitation and graveside services will be held in Conrad, Iowa with visitation from 6 to 8pm Tuesday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad, and burial with military and Masonic honors at the Conrad Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2002. In Leiu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Paul’s memory. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Paul’s services and his family.

Paul was born February 15, 1941 in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Lowell L. and Doris L. (Stewart) McKibben. He was in the last graduating class of the Luscomb High School, Luscomb, Iowa in 1959, graduate of the Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria, Virginia, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also attended many colleges and universities in the cities where he and his family were stationed during his service in the Marine Corps. Paul served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 during the Vietnam War through 1986, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He married Susan A. Raleigh June 18, 1969, in Norfolk, Virginia. After his retirement, they moved to Marshalltown where he was the administrator of the Marshall County Care Facility, and later he held the same position at a care facility in Webster City for a number of years before moving to Coralville nearly ten years ago where he has been property manager for the Valley Forge Apartments.

He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, Iowa City Masonic Lodge No. 4 A.F. & A.M., Jessamine Chapter No. 135 of O.E.S., Bethlehem Chapter No. 8 of the White Shrine, Lifetime member of the Okinawa Scottish Rite, Marshall Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Marshalltown, Za-Ga-Zig Temple in Des Moines, and the American Legion Post No. 681 in Conrad, Iowa.

His family includes his wife, Sue; mother, Doris McKibben of Conrad; sons, Paul McKibben Jr. and his wife, Marcia, Genoa City, Wisc., Bradley McKibben and his wife, Tanya of Rockford, IL, Mathew McKibben and his wife, Kristin of Marshalltown, and Mark McKibben and his significant other, Michelle Weinard of Coralville; grandsons, Sean, Kevin, and Lucas McKibben; granddaughters, Whitney Cary, Zoë and Serena McKibben; step-grandchildren, Bianca Smith and Melissa Hughes; step-great grandchildren, Christina, Jackie, Aron, and Anastacia Hughes; sisters, Phyllis and her husband, Robert Johnson of Baxter, Marjorie and her husband, Jerry Johnston of Conrad, and Maxine Carstedt of Round Rock, TX.

Paul was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.
