Patrick John Ryan, 53, of rural Solon, died Monday June 11th at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon where the family will be available to greet friends at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Bridgets Cemetery, Nolan Settlement. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

Patrick was born on April 26, 1954, at Mercy in Iowa City, the son of Michael and Viola (Eagle) Ryan. He was a graduate of Solon High School and later graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Ag Mechanics. Patrick was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon, a member of the Friends of St. Bridgets and a former member of St. Bridgets Parish. Patrick loved farming, hunting, wildlife and his dog Luke.

Patrick is survived by his two brothers, Dan of Solon ( former wife LuAnn Dvorak) and their children, God-daughter Bethany Ryan & Sean Ryan; Mike Ryan (Barb) of Iowa City and their children Amy (Jake) Ganske, Tracy (Jon) LaDage, Angie (Tim) McCormick and God-son John Ryan, two sisters, Mary Hoyer (Tom) of Iowa City and their children, Bret (Angi) Hoyer, Kelly (John) Ward, Kasey Hoyer and Brooke (Chris) Holahan; Jean Spurgeon of Iowa City and her children Terry Spurgeon, God-daughter Laura (Jack) Noble and Sarah (Tom) Knebel and many great nieces and nephews.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis and brother-in-law Tom Spurgeon.
