William L. Hartsock, 92, formerly of Iowa City, died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Solon Nursing Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in William’s memory to the Iowa City Hospice.

William was born May 12, 1913 in Johnson County to William and Lulu (Oldaker) Hartsock. He was a 1931 graduated of University High, Iowa City. On August 1, 1931 he married Blanche Donham at the First Christian Church, Iowa City. William was a retired farmer and he had also worked for Grey’s Hardware and Lenoch and Cilek. William was a member of the First Baptist Church, Iowa City. William was also a member of the Eagles and Isaac Walton in Iowa City.

William’s family includes his loving wife of 71 years, Blanche; two daughters, Deanna and her husband, Leo Fuhrmeister of Iowa City and Donna Volk and her fiancé, Rob Schnake of Coralville; a son, David and his wife, Shirlene of Glenwood, Missouri; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Beth Hartsock, a son-in-law, Mike Volk, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
