Alda M. Dunlap, age 91 of 509 10th Avenue, Coralville, died Monday, August 7, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2006, at the River Community Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Gail Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Alda’s memory to Iowa City Hospice, Mercy Home Health Care or River Community Church. Alda Martha Wyjack Dunlap was born December 20, 1914, in Iowa City the daughter of John and Alda (Rogers) Wyjack. She attended and graduated from University High School in Iowa City. On March 4, 1941, she married Robert Dunlap in Jefferson, Missouri. For many years she worked as a laboratory technician at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Alda was a member of the River Community Church formerly Bethany Baptist Church in Iowa City.

Her family includes a daughter, Sandra K. Gill of Walnut, CA; grandson, Sean Gill of Coralville; sister, Shirley Hansen of Portland, OR; and a brother, Donald Wyjack of Fort Collins, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dunlap; brothers, Harvey, Wilbur, John, Albert, and Danny Wyjack; and sisters, Bonnie Hoff, Phyllis Roth, Opal Fairchild, and Thelma Beard.

Those that knew Alda knew only her faith was more important than the love she had for all of her family. She and her husband, Robert enjoyed traveling, she enjoyed nature whether it was in her back yard, or the Rocky Mountains.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Alda’s family and her services.
