John F. Perdue, age 90 of 825 Roosevelt Street, Iowa City died Thursday, August 24, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Gail Mitchell officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 12 noon Sunday until services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Johnson County Senior Center @ 28 S. Linn Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. John Frank Perdue was born September 18, 1915, in Stuart, Iowa the son of John Edward and Agnes Emma (Moravec) Perdue. As a child at the age of nine his family moved to Iowa City where he attended Iowa City Schools graduating from City High School in 1934. He than attended the State University of Iowa. During WWII he served his country in the United States Navy. On March 6, 1954, John married Gwendolyn May Rarick in Iowa City. For many years John worked as a carpenter and contractor in this area. He enjoyed canoeing, fishing, and hunting with his wife, and other family members and friends throughout the years. John was a member of River Community Church in Iowa City.

His family includes nephews, Jay Rarick of Mexico, David Rarick and his wife, Sally and Duane Rarick and his wife, Dena all of Ainsworth, IA; niece Diana Pearson and her husband, Mike of Corwith, IA; sister-in-law, Gayle Rarick of Corwith, IA; along with his nephew’s widow, Judy Rarick of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gwen; sister-in-law, Mona Rarick, brothers-in-law, Arnold and Bill Rarick; and nephew, Gene Rarick.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for John’s family and his services.
