Thomas R. Gilles, 45, of 1813 Lower Old Highway 6 NW in Oxford, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics following a battle with cancer.

Tom chose to be cremated. His family will greet friends Friday from noon until 2:00 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville – with a memorial service following at 2:00 pm. Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to a scholarship fund, in Tom’s name, for the Black River Falls High School Senior Athlete of the Year.

Tom was born January 29, 1962 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Jon & Shirley (Radcliffe) Gilles.
He grew up in and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1981 – where he was voted athlete of the year.

Moving to Iowa in 1983, Tom managed the Perkins and Country Kitchen restaurants in Coralville.
Tom then established A-1 Window Company with his twin brother Tim which they owned and operated for 15 years.

He very much enjoyed sports, playing on the BCI Lumber softball league and pool leagues. He also collected coins and baseball cards. Tom greatly enjoyed family get togethers where he was always
the life of the party. He always enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, he was the
toughest of competition his entire life . His last request was that his family grow closer together and
always LOVE one another.
