Iowa City, IowaAnna E. Frits, age 85 of Iowa City died Thursday, November 16, 2006, at the Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the First Christian Church in Coralville with the Reverend Dr. John McKinstry officiating. There will be a period of visitation on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until services and during the luncheon that will be held before leaving for Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City for burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Anna’s memory to Iowa City Hospice or the First Christian Church. Anna Elizabeth Lee was born July 4, 1921, in Kinross, Iowa the daughter of Benjamin D. and Myrtle Swank "May" Lee. After high school she attended and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On December 24, 1943, she was united in marriage to Gilbert W. Frits. She has lived in Iowa City since 1947. Anna was a member of P.E.O., the Iowa City Women’s Club, and the First Christian Church in Coralville where she was active in the Sara Hart group and a member of the quilter’s group. She spent countless hours at home assembling quilt blocks which were then finished by the quilters group and donated to the University of Iowa Hospital School. Anna also enjoyed doing and was very talented in creating many crafts items, sharing these with her family and friends.
Her family includes sons; Robert Frits and his wife, Kathleen of Norwalk, IA, and Donald Frits and his wife, Judith of Iowa City, grandchildren, Warren “Kip” Frits, Rebecca Decker and her husband, Scott Decker, Michelle Frits, Aaron Frits and his wife, Brianna (Pitton), Heather Frits, Dana Frits, Adam Frits, and Sara Frits; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Payton and Andrew; brothers Harold Lee and his wife, Evelyn and Roscoe Lee and his wife, Helen all of Webster, IA; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; parents Benjamin and Myrtle, two brothers Francis and Woodrow Lee, and one sister Grace Sondag.
