William David “Tuck” Cahill passed away from cancer at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 17, 2007.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with Reverend Kenneth Kuntz officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A parish rosary will be held at 4:00 pm and a parish vigil service at 8:00 pm.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, Visiting Nurse’s Association or the American Cancer Society.

Born March 21st, 1935 in Williamsburg, the oldest son of William and Wilma
(Jones)Cahill. His family moved to Iowa City when he was a baby. Dave attended St. Mary’s Grade School and High School in Iowa City, graduating in 1953. He attended St. Ambrose College and the University of Iowa, but after the death of his father he came home to help his mother and 6 siblings. He met Peg McNertney in 1954 and they were married in April 1957. Dave and Peg would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 21, 2007.

Dave was a longtime real estate broker and developer in the Iowa City area.
He was a huge Iowa Hawkeye football fan, attending all the home games for most of his life and enjoying the bowl game trips. He also enjoyed a round of golf with friends and family, including the 19th hole.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Iowa City and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Dave was a devout Catholic who loved his family and friends dearly.

Survived By: Wife, Margaret “Peg” Cahill; three daughters, Terri (Paul) Viken of Arlington Hts, Illinois, Shawn (Tom) Moore of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Julie (Dave) Leeney of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; two sons, David Cahill of Iowa City and Timothy (Jamie) Cahill of Ann Arbor, Michigan; grandchildren, Don (Nadia), David, Maggie and Mick Viken of Arlington Hts. Illinois, Tommy, Cody, Megan and Shannon Moore of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Tricia, Derek, Katrina and Molly Leeney of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Kailee Cahill of Ann Arbor, Michigan; great-grandson, William David Viken of Arlington Hts, Illinois; brothers and sisters, Mary Ellen (Dean) Steckly of Frytown, Iowa, Patricia (Robert) Christensen of Carroll, Iowa, John (Nancy) Cahill, Elyse (Erv) Lewis, Rose Marie Cahill and James Cahill, all of Iowa City.

Preceded in death by a brother Raymond Cahill, a daughter Patricia Cahill and his parents.
