Norma “Toodie” Wehde, 70 of # 6 Woodland Dr. NE. died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at her home. The Wehde family lost their beloved Norma “Toodie” Wehde after her long courageous battle with health issues. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and inspiring teacher. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service- 605 Kirkwood, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday at Lensing’s, with Rev. Dr. John Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of Iowa City or Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Norma was born June 15, 1936 the daughter of Herbert and Nell (Kelsey) Schmitt in Iowa City, Iowa. She married Andrew Wehde on June 8, 1957 in Nichols, Iowa. Norma graduated from Nichols High School and later graduated from University of Northern Iowa with her teaching certificate. Norma taught 6th grade in Tipton and later worked as a clerk for Hallmark. Her life long job was that of homemaker. She was an active member of St. Marks Methodist Church and past president of the Longfellow PTA. Andy and Norma just celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary. Andy will miss his soul mate of 49 years.

Norma is survived by her husband, Andrew Wehde of Iowa City, IA, two sons; Shawn Wehde and his wife Sharron of Sioux City, IA, Douglas Wehde and his wife Cathy of Corte Madera, CA, one daughter, Kathryn Wehde of Henderson, NV; her grandchildren; Bradley, Allison, Riley and Hagen; she is also survived by one brother, Loren Schmitt of Iowa City and one sister, Genene Moss and her husband Glenn of Nichols, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
