Patrick R. Sadler, 46, of 3758 Elgin Avenue died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Mercy Hospital of cancer.
Memorial Mass to celebrate Patrick’s life will be Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 10am at St. Wenceslaus Church with Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7pm. Friends are welcome to attend a reception at noon, Saturday at American Legion Post #17, 3016 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospital Foundation or to the Sadler Children Education Fund.
Patrick was born January 21, 1960 in Iowa City, the son of Robert and Rose Nuechter Sadler. He was a 1978 graduate of City High School. Patrick married Kathleen Hughes on June 20, 1986 at St. Alphonsus Church in Davenport.
Patrick was a longtime employee of Mercy Hospital, where he worked in shipping and receiving. He had a strong work ethic and the ability to fix anything. Patrick liked to travel, especially to Las Vegas, Colorado and Wisconsin Dells. He enjoyed cooking for his family and made superb chili. Most importantly, Patrick was a wonderful husband, father and son.
Patrick is survived by his wife Kathleen and their children Christopher and Nicholas, all of Iowa City, and Laura (Dan) Mozingo of Mesa, Arizona; his mother, Rose Sadler of Iowa City; maternal grandmother, Louise Nuechter of Iowa City; two sisters, Anne (Greg) Sadler Cade of Poway, CA and Mary Bartley of Tiffin; half brother, Scott (Michelle) Sadler of North Liberty; his in-laws, Robert and Donna Hughes of Davenport; his lifelong friend, John DeFrance of Iowa City; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
