Mary J. Kuebrich, 99, of Cosgrove, died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at her home following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cosgrove with Reverend Edmond Dunn officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday morning after 10:00 am. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Cosgrove. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Sisters of Humility of Mary in Davenport or Iowa City Hospice.
Mary was born February 24, 1907 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas & Margaret (Murphy) Burns. She married William P. Kuebrich on August 12, 1930 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was a home economics teacher at Cosgrove High School prior to her marriage. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a long- time member of the Union Township Women’s Club.
Mary is survived by her, son, William J. Kuebrich of Cosgrove; five daughters, Sister Joann Kuebrich of Davenport, Delores Kuebrich of Cosgrove, Dorothy Feeney of Davenport, Marilyn Boyd of Iowa City and Jayne (William) Kelly of Peoria, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; two sisters, Veronica (Francis) McCarty of Pomeroy and Alice Burns of Emmetsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William in July of 2001, two sons-in-law, Patrick B. Boyd and Thomas J. Feeney, sisters, Elizabeth Bormann and Helen Forbes.
