ART KLOOS IS
NEW FIRE CHIEF
-----
OFFICERS ELECTED BY DEPART-
MENT MONDAY EVENING--
HONORS PASSED AROUND.
-----
The Iowa City fire department held its annual election of officers last Monday evening in the firemen's room in the city hall. The places were closely contested in some Instances but the list of officers chosen indicates that the members graciously passed the honors around. Art Kloos, the new chief who succeeds James Clark, is a member of the hook and ladder company. The full list is as follows:
Chief, Art Kloos.
First assistant chief, Geo. Klema.
Second assistant chief, Paul Schmidt.
Secretary, Irvin Potter.
Treasurer, Homer Ellis.
Color bearer, Jacob Metzger.
Banner bearer, George Buck.
The veteran color bearer, Jacob Metzger, has the wonderful record of having served thirty-five years in the capacity to which he was again chosen last Monday. J. C. Miller, the retiring secretary, has filled the post for four years and in going out of office does so having served his term of ten years in the department.
