MISS ANN PICKERING

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pickering of 815 North Dodge street, are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Ann Pickering, to Mr. James Tainer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Tainer of Cleveland, Ohio.
The wedding will take place on October 26 at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas More chapel in the Catholic Student center.
Miss Pickering is a graduate of City high school and is a junior in the school of nursing at the University of Iowa. While in the college of liberal arts she was affiliated with Tau Gamma sorority.
Mr. Tainer graduated from East Technical high school in Cleveland, Ohio, and now is enrolled as a sophomore in the chemical engineering department of the college of engineering at the University of Iowa. Mr. Tainer was stationed in Iowa City at the naval pre-flight school.

Miss Ann Pickering Is Married
This Morning To Mr. J. Tainer

Miss Ann Pickering, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Pickering of 815 North Dodge street, became the bride of Mr. James Tainer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Tainer of Cleveland, Ohio, in a ceremony performed this morning at 9 o'clock in St. Thomas More Chapel in the Catholic Student center.
The Rev. Walter E. McEleney of the student center officiated at the double ring service. Bouquets of autumn flowers and palms were placed on either side of the altar.
Miss Mary Ellen Gatens of Iowa City, organist, played the nuptial music. One hundred guests witnessed the ceremony.

*Brocaded Satin*
The bride was escorted into the chapel by her father. She wore a white brocaded satin wedding gown fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and long, bridal-pointed sleeves. She wore a strand of pearls and her fingertip marquisette veil was edged in lace.
She carried an arm bouquet of white carnations with an orchid center.
Mrs. Orrie Cough of Iowa City, the bride's sister, was the matron of honor. Mrs. Couch wore a dusty rose taffeta gown fashioned with a bouffant skirt and long full sleeves. She wore a pale pink marquisette veil and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations.
Miss Marilyn Mott and Miss Mary Louise Strohmeyer both of Iowa City were the bridesmaids. They wore identically designed gowns of shell pink marquisette with cap sleeves and a high round neckline.
The bridesmaids wore shell pink veils and carried bouquets of the same shade carnations.
Mr. Frank Tainer, the bridegroom's brother of Cleveland, was the best man. Ushers were Mr. David Herring and Dr. Orrie Couch both of Iowa City

*Wedding Breakfast*
At 10:20 o'clock a wedding breakfast was served to the bridal party and families in the Hotel Jefferson. Bouquets of fall flowers and white tapers completed the table arrangements.
After the breakfast the couple left for Davenport where they will spend their honeymoon. For traveling the bride wore a powder blue suit with brown accessories and an orchid corsage.
They will be at home next week at 815 North Dodge street.
The bride is a graduate of City high school and studied for two years at the University of Iowa. She now is a junior in the university's school of nursing.
Mr. Tainer graduated from East Technical high school in Cleveland and is now a sophomore in the college of engineering at the university.

*Out-of-town Guests*
Guests from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. J. Tainer, Mr. Frank Tainer, Mrs. Ray Tabbie all of Cleveland, and Mr. and Mrs. Connie Pickering of South Bend, Ind.
