Golden Wedding Anniversary

One of the prominent events of the week took place yesterday when Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Evans were the honored principals of a golden wedding celebration held at the country home of their daughter, Mrs. John Fuhrmeister, on the Dubuque road. Mr. and Mrs. Evans, who reside with their daughter, Mrs. J. C. Moyer, at 1157 Hotz avenue, were married in Johnson county, July 10th 1873, and have spent all of the following years here.
About sixty relatives assembled in their honor yesterday afternoon, the group including their six children, sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In the evening, an elaborate picnic dinner was served on the lawn, after which the evening was spent pleasantly with visiting. The four daughters, Mrs. William Fuhrmeister, Mrs. John Fuhrmeister, Mrs. Charles Heidt and Mrs. j. C. Moyer, were hostesses at the dinner.
As an appropriate memento of the gladsome occasion, fifty dollars in gold was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Evans. Out of town guests at the celebration include Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Green and Mrs. Ogle Brockman, of Humboldt; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wequist and family, and Mr. Thuel Evans, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. William Husstiger, Watertown. S. D.
