Winborns receive award

Phil and Karen Winborn of Kalona are the winners of the 2010 Southeast Regional Iowa Soil Conservation Awards Program. Phil attended the Johnson County Farm Bureau board meeting on April 25 to receive the plaque from Russ Meade, president of JCFB.
Farming operations receiving this award are judged on the basis of conservation practices installed, amount of land considered adequately treated, community service and general farm husbandry. The farming methods used by the Winborns exemplify a total resource conservation system approach to address soil erosion, water quality, wildlife and energy conservation.
