Iowa Citians Attend
Annual Family Reunions

17th Hrdlicka Gathering Takes Place In City Park;
Local Folk Are Present At Chandler-
Palmer And Vaughn Assemblages

Many Iowa Citians were present at family reunions, which took place Sunday in the city park and at parks in other cities in Iowa.
One hundred and four relatives and friends attended the 17th annual Hrdlicka reunion at city park. Officers for the coming year will include Mr. Frank Hrdlicka, Jr. president, Mr. Lee Hrdlicka, vice president; and Miss Margaret Herdlicka [sic], secretary and treasurer. The grounds committee will consist of Mrs. Everard Anderson, Mrs. Maurice Hrdlicka and Mrs. Charles Volesky; and the entertainment committee will be headed by Mrs. Edward Benesh.
Pictures were taken of the four generations of the Joe Hrdlicka family, including Mr. Joe Hrdlicka, Mrs. Paul Brown, Mrs. Earl Stimmel and Susan Kay Stimmel.
Attending the gathering were Mr. and Mrs. Everard Anderson, Mrs. John Welsh and son, Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brown and children, Florence, Betty, Richard, Mildred Jane and Billy, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bunesh and daughter, Mary Ann, Mr. J. In the city park at Wellman Sunday, the 12th annual Chandler-Palmer reunion took place. The group included descendants of John and Sarah Chandler Palmer who were born in 1815 in Pennsylvania and descendants of William K. Chandler, born in 1826 [18*6] in Ohio. The Chandlers came from England in 1657 and the history and ancestors have been traced back to 1235 [123*].
Included on the program were prayer, hymns, greetings from absent members, and Mrs. Ethel Butterbaugh read a letter from the Rev. Herbert Kleinfelder and his wife, Mrs. Bianche Palmer Kleinfelder of Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Stephen Sunier, historian, announced the marriage of Bertha Chandler Maske-Eckhardt; the birth of a son, Bruce to Dr. and Mrs. Francis W. Palmer in Salina, Kan., and the death of Mrs. Allen P. Fry. The group read the historian's book and the Chandler genealogy and the annual pictures were taken by Eugene Sunier.
Mrs. Glee [Gle*] Palmer Jennings of Grand River was re-elected president. Other officers are Miss Gertrude E. Smith of Iowa City, vice president, Mr. Milo P. Smith of Marengo, secretary; Mrs. Bertha Chandler Eckhardt of Wellman, treasurer, and Mrs. Elizabeth Chandler of Iowa City, *** historian. The next meeting will be on the third Sunday in August.

Honoring Mrs. John Vaughn of Des Moines, a former Iowa Citian, many relatives and friends gathered at Union park in Des Moines Sunday. All of her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren were present.
