Last Will and Testament of John Fountain

In the name of God, Amen.

I, John Fountain of the county of Johnson and state of Iowa, being of sound mind and disposing memory, and knowing the uncertainty of life, do make, publish, and declare this my last will and testament, as follows:

I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, during and for her natural life, the farm on which I now reside, to wit: the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter of section number 31, township number 78 north, of range five west of the principal meridian.

It is further my will and desire that my said wife have all my personal property I may be seized of at the time of my death. It is also my will and desire that the above mentioned real estate, at the death of my said wife shall go to my son, David.

It is further my will and desire and I do hereby bequeath to my son, John, the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter and the south half of the southwest quarter of the southwest quarter of section number thirty-one in township 78 north of range 5 west of the prime meridian.

And I bequeath to my son William, the north half of the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of the section last above described.

And I bequeath to my son, Emsley, the south half of the northeast quarter of section 6 in township number seventy-seven north of range 5 west of the principal meridian

And I also give and bequeath to my said son, Emsley, and my son, Andrew, jointly, the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of section number thirty-two in township number seventy-eight north, of range 5 west of the principal meridian

And I also give and bequeath to my grandson, Levi Fountain, my daughter Nancy's son, the southwest quarter of the southeast quarter of section number thirty-one in township seventy-eight north of range five west of the principal meridian.

And I further give and bequeath to all my said sons jointly, the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of section number thirty-one in township seventy-eight north, of range five west of the principal meridian.

And it is further my will and desire that all my personal estate be equally divided between my daughters, that is share and share alike to wit: Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy and Hannah, and I also wish and desire that my daughter Sarah Jane's children, Job and Elizabeth shall share alike with my said daughters, that is, the two to draw one share, after the death of myself and wife.

I hereby constitute and appoint Isaac Fountain, of Johnson Co., Iowa, executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke all former will by me made.

Signed, published and delivered by the above named John Fountain as and for last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses hereto in the presence of the testator and of each other, the day and year above written.
