OSTRANDER Rites To Be Thursday

BATAVIA, Ia. - Arthur L. OSTRANDER, 74, well known Batavia resident, died suddenly Monday evening at Quincy, Ill. He had gone to Quincy earlier in the day on business.

Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell funeral chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Dale Ellsworth in charge. Burial will be in the Batavia cemetery. The casket was scheduled to arrive today from Quincy.

Arthur L. OSTRANDER was born May 9, 1889, near Batavia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank OSTRANDER. He had formerly engaged in farming in the Farson and Agency communities before moving to Batavia in 1934 where he operated a produce business. He was a member of the Batavia Community club.

He was married to Winifred GRIFFIOEN on Dec. 31, 1924. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Richard Eugene, Eldon; Denver Lee, Batavia; and Ronald David, Webster City; along with 10 grandchildren, one step-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a sister.

[Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I am not related.]

Admin. note: Buried in the New section of the cemetery, in Lot S60. Wife Winifred did not have a death date noted on her side of their gravestone when this cemetery was read in 1972, but a likely entry in the online Social Security Death Index (as Winnie OSTRANDER) gives a 1995 death date... this may be her.
