BATAVIA, Ia. Death came suddenly this morning to Lena L. LIPPS, 79, who probably was better known by her stage name, Mariam CRAWFORD. She died about 5 a.m. today at her apartment at the Mrs. Euna BEACH home in Batavia where she had lived for some time. She is a sister of L. L. LIPPS, who had lived at Batavia but recently had moved back to Fairfield where he is living at the Hunt Hotel. He is a former RR employee. Campbell Funeral Chapel, Batavia.
Born Oct. 2, 1884, in Whitley Co., Indiana, daughter of James P. and Clementine ATHEY LIPPS. She spent most of her life in New York City where she was engaged in the musical profession. She was known in New York by her stage name, Mariam CRAWFORD. Miss LIPPS was a member of the church of Christ Scientists. Survived by her brother.
