Hugh LATTA, born 1841 in Dauphin County, Pa. His father, Ephrum, died when Hugh was two years old.

Mr. LATTA had only one brother, John, who died in 1894. From Dauphin County, Pa., the widow, Mrs. Eliza LATTA, with her two young sons, moved back to Gettysburg, Pa., her parental home. Later, when Hugh was 16, in 1857, the mother with her two sons migrated to Knox County, Ill., near Knoxville and Galesburg, where they lived four years.

In the fall of 1861 they moved to Jefferson Co., Iowa, three miles s.e. of Batavia. In 1865 Hugh LATTA and Catherine COLLINS were married; four children: Wilson C. of Batavia, Emma F. of Eldon; Cora C. and John H. Cora was called to the better land Feb. 27, 1911. M. E. Church. Brethren Cemetery.
