Mrs. KITCHEN was born on Jan. 18, 1893, in Batavia, the daughter of Walter and Florence SKIRVIN MARING. She had lived all of her life in Jefferson County and was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was married to Samuel W. KITCHEN on March 15, 1909. He survives.

Also surviving are four daugters, Mrs. Neva STEFFENSMEIER of Oakdale, Mrs. Kathryn DUNCAN of Hillsboro, Mrs. Geraldine PEEBLER of Batavia, Mrs. Barbara MELTON of Fairfield; five sons, Paul KITCHEN of Fairfield, Gerald KITCHEN of Batavia, Donal KITCHEN of Brighton, Samuel KITCHEN Jr. of Fairfield, and Carroll KITCHEN of LaHarpe, Ill.; 29 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

She is survived by one brother, Charles MARING of Bettendorf. Mrs. KITCHEN was preceded in death by two daughters, one son, four sisters and two brothers.

**I extensively research the PEEBLER lineage.**

Admin. note: I had originally transcribed an abbreviated version of the second obituary. In September, 2013, Sherri provided the complete transcription and the first obituary, both of which appear above. I replaced my name as the submitter with hers due to the family connection. -JS
