BATAVIA. Clyde Vernon HUMMEL, 73, died at his home here this morning. Born Sept. 11, 1879, at London Mills, Ill., son of Samuel and Margaret PHILLIPPI HUMMEL.

His early years were spent in Illinois. In 1915 he married Laura R. REID and lived in the Batavia community since that time. He had engaged in farming until moving to Batavia in 1949. U.B. Ch. Member Eagles Lodge at Ottumwa.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Hobart, by a former marriage, who lives at Quincy, Ill., two grandchildren, one stepson, Lelio REID of Batavia, and two stepgrchn. Preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters. Campbell Funeral Chapel. Bur. Batavia Cemetery.
