Mahlon HUGHELL, born 3 mi. east of Batavia July 22, 1846, died at the same place Jan. 6, 1920, aged 73-5-15... married Elizabeth PINICK Apr. 25, 1876; three children, two of whom preceded the father in death. Two brothers, one daughter, and one granddaughter with the wife and mother survived him...
Returned from Kansas to Iowa in 1891 and located on the old home place east of Batavia...
Funeral Friday 2 p.m. Jan. 9, 1920, conducted by Rev. B. W. Pettit of Albia, former pastor of Batavia... Laid to rest in the beautiful Batavia Cemetery where he shall rest undisturbed by the earth's turmoils.
