Peter Mikesell, a resident of Fairfield for many years, died Mon. in Ottumwa where he was visiting a sister. The body passed through this city yesterday enroute for Monmouth, Ill., which has been the home of the family for twelve years or more past. Mr. Mikesell was 68 years of age and was born in Preble County, Ohio. The family came to Iowa in 1854 and to this city sometime later. Mr. Mikesell was married here to Mary Hall who, with two sons, survives him. He was a member of Company E, 2 IVI in the Civil War and had an excellent military record. Old comrades and friends in this city will learn of this death with regret.
