PIONEER BATAVIA BUSINESS MAN. Casper DURR died at Ottumwa June 13 and his body was interred at his old home two days later. Native of Switzerland, born June 26, 1826, came to U.S. 1853 and a year later married Miss Salome SCHOLER at Burlington; she died several years ago.
Nine children, all living-- Mrs. Emma McELROY, Mrs. W. E. CREATH, and Nellie and Carl DURR of Ottumwa, Mrs. Eugene CAMPBELL of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. F. M. TAYLOR of Iowa City, Mrs. N. L. WANN of Fairbury, Ill., Mrs. Bertha RANDALL of Kansas City, Mo., and H. P. DURR of Centerville. The family removed to Batavia about the time the B & M Railway was completed to that place and Mr. DURR conducted a general merchandise store there for many years....
