This old and respected citizen of Des Moines township passed peacefully away Sunday, Dec. 21st, after being prostrated but forty-eight hours. He was born in Bedford county, Pa., July 26, 1811; married Catherine BURGER in 1833. She died July 28, 1834. Mr. BROWN was married again Feb. 29, 1837, to Miss Delilah MILLER. They came to Jefferson county about 1846, and his wife only lived till July 13, 1854. He was again married May 29, 1856 to Mrs. Margaret JAMISON, who survives him. Of his living children, George M. is in Colorado, Sarah SHEPLER, Mrs. E. H. PEEBLER, Mrs. M. D. PEEBLER, Mrs. W. C. MANNING, are in this county, and Mrs. W. H. PEEBLER in Warren county.
Mr. BROWN was a farmer all his life, an enthusiastic fruit cultivator, and did much to develope (sic) horticulture in the southwestern part of the county. He was a good and consistent member of the Dunkard church for forty years; and his funeral was preached by Rev. Holder, of that denomination, and his remains buried in their cemetery, at 11 o’clock, a. m., Monday.

Note: Buried in Brethren, a/k/a Dunkard, Cemetery. Wives Delilah and Margaret are buried there with him. Margaret's maiden name was SHIPLER and she had previously been married to Robert JAMESON.
