James M. CAMPBELL died Tues. morning at his home in Garnett, Kansas. Born near Abingdon Apr. 2, 1862, son of (James) Milton and Catherine DUKE CAMPBELL; married Mar. 4, 1891, Susan W. WALKER of near Batavia; one son, Wallace CAMPBELL, Batavia funeral director. Mrs. CAMPBELL died Dec. 24, 1918 and on May 6, 1920, he married Effie SHOCKEY of Garnett, who survives.

Other survivors are two grandsons, Gifford Wallace, with the Army Air Corps in Italy, and Roy, a veteran of South Pacific action with the U.S. Marines, now confined to a San Francisco hospital by illness; one greatgrandson, one greatgranddaughter, and one sister of Nevada, Mo. Methodist.

Greater part of his life was spent in the Batavia community before going to Kansas to make his home about 20 years ago. Burial at Batavia.
