Local Man's Body Found In City Lake

County officers this afternoon were still investigating the death of Roy CASTILE, 75, Fairfield resident whose body was found in Walton Lake about 12:45 p.m. today.

Officers said it is possible CASTILE suffered a heart attack while fishing, and fell in the lake; or he could have slipped and fallen near a culvert, injuring himself.

Witnesses said he was seen fishing in the area just a short time before his body was discovered.

Two Parsons College students discovered the body. they are Bill Tonyes, Carls Place, N. Y., and Don Seel, Philadelphia, Pa.

They told officers they had seen CASTILE fishing along the bank just a short time before they saw his body in the water. They pulled him up on the culvert and administered artificial respiration, but he failed to respond. In the meantime officers were notified.

The body was found near the culvert which joins the north part of the lake to the major body of water on the south. The culvert passes through the county road.

Officers were told that CASTILE had picked up a friend, Stan Brewington, at noon today to go fishing. Brewington lives at 104½ W. Burlington.

When they arrived at the lake, Brewington started fishing on the north side of the road, and CASTILE on the south side. His death apparently occurred a short time after his arrival at the scene.

The body was taken to the Weston Behner Funeral Home where officers were continuing their investigation at 1:30 p.m.

CASTILE was a former long-time auto salesman in the Fairfield community and more recently was employed at Wayne's Newsstand.
