Wednesday, 4 Nov 1896Andrew Castile died October 27. One of the oldest and most respected citizens of Lockridge Township.
Born in Sweden 3 Mar 1823, came to America in 1848, stopping for a time at Rock Island, Illinois, and July 4th of the following year arrived at Fairfield, Iowa.
Was a shoemaker by trade.
30 Sep 1849 married Miss Sarah E. Anderson, a member of the first Swedish Colony of the Western States; she survives.
12 children, 7 now living: Andrew A., York, Nebraska; John S., Omaha, Nebraska; R.L., Holdrege, Nebraska; Isaac, Georgia; Mrs. Oscar Larson and Delia M., who reside here; all married except the latter.
Four children died in infancy; the other, a daughter, Mrs. August Berg, died at Denver Colorado, in 1893. of 40 grandchildren, 31 are living
