John E. PIERSON, 88, lifetime resident of Jefferson County, died suddenly Wed. at 8:30 p.m. at his home, 406 N. Main St.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Hoyt L. Whitebread. Burial will be in Upland cemetery south of Lockridge.

PIERSON farmed for 50 years in the Lockridge and Glasgow areas before moving to Fairfield 10 years ago. He was born July 28, 1875 at Lockridge, son of Nels and Emma LARSON PIERSON. He was married to Phrona ANDERSON March 5, 1903. She preceded him in death April 26, 1962. He was a member of the Upland Lutheran church.

He is survived by three children: John C. PIERSON, Fairfield R.1; Edgar PIERSON, Stevens Point, Wis.; and Mrs. Mildred QUICK, West Branch. Also surviving are six grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters, and one son.
