01/03/2006Helene Josephine Miller, 92, of Ottumwa died at noon Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
A service was held this morning at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery in Douds.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Hospice House of Ottumwa may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 606 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa 52501.
Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 28, 1913, near Keosauqua, the daughter of Fred Duffield and Hope Stewart Fellows. She married Charles Homer Miller June 8, 1933, in Keosauqua. He died May 31, 1974.
Mrs. Miller graduated from Douds High School and Parsons College and earned her master's degree at Northeast Missouri University. She taught school seven years in Bloomfield and 19 years in Ottumwa.
Mrs. Miller was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church in Ottumwa. She was a member of Twin City Chapter 258, Order of Eastern Star in Douds and Wapello County Retired Teachers Association..
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne A. Grim and husband Donald of Ottumwa; two sons, Paul S. Miller of Brighton, Mo., and James R. Miller of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Fellows of Winchester, Va., and Robert Fellows of Ottumwa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances McDaniel.
