Glenn E. "Boney" Burrows, 79, of Eldon, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The body has been cremated. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Eldon Cemetery, with the Rev. David Albert officiating.

No visitation is planned. Memorials may be directed to the Eldon Fire and Rescue Unit.

Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burrows was born on Aug. 24, 1926, in Fairfield to Glenn and Hazel Smith Burrows. He married Pauline Stribling Sept. 14, 1946, in Fairfield.

He was raised and educated in Fairfield attending Fairfield High School. He operated the Fina Filling Station in Agency prior to operating the Standard Oil Station in Eldon for many years. He was an avid stock car racing fan at the Eldon Raceway Park. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army. He had served in the U.S. Merchant Marines prior to his enlistment into the Army and for several years following his discharge from the Army.

He was a former member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows in Eldon, a former member of the Free Methodist Church in Fairfield and had attended the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon.

Survivors include his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jane Ann Burrows; and two sisters, Marjorie Burrows and Norma Griffin.
