Irma M. "Sunshine" Quayle McKean, 82, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will be at the Clay Grove Cemetery in rural Donnellson.

Visitation began at noon today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Pleasant Manor Care Facility Activity Fund and the Clay Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. McKean was born June 20, 1923, in Donnellson, the daughter of Daniel Henry and Flossie Vanlaningham Frueh. She married Charles H. Quayle April 5, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He died in January of 1968. She married James McKean on June 18, 1977, in Trenton, Iowa. He in January of 2001.

Mrs. McKean grew up in the Donnellson area and attended Dover School north of Donnellson. She spent much of her early adult life in the Fairfield-Glasgow area. In 1968, she moved to Mount Pleasant. Over the years, she was an assembly worker for Shaffer Pen, the Fairfield Glove Factory, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, O.E. McIntyre (Metro Group), and Vega Industries (Hearth and Home Technologies). Irma also delivered school buses for Bluebird for several years. Her pastimes included caring for others of all ages, spending time with her family, especially grandchildren, going to yard sales, baking, sewing and quilting.

Mrs. McKean was a member of the Mount Pleasant Lions Club.

Survivors include one son, Herb Quayle and his wife Jackie of Mount Pleasant; one granddaughter, Tammy Ireland and her husband Joe of Mount Pleasant; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Shirley and Marsha Quayle; one son, Bobby Quayle; one brother, Junior Frueh; and one sister, Mary Ellen Prottsman.
