Son of Attorney A. W. JAQUES Died Wednesday at San Antonio, Texas.A telegram received in this city late last night by A. W. JAQUES announced the death of his son Joseph W. which occurred in San Antonio, Texas Wednesday morning(.) A brother, Ed JAQUES of North Dakota passed through here Monday evening hastening to his brother's bedside.
The remains will be brought to this city arriving some time Friday night or Saturday morning. The funeral will be held a the parental home probably Sunday afternoon.
Joseph W. JAQUES was born in Abingdon, Iowa, December 20th, '75 (sic - 16th) and when but two years of age came with his parents to this city where he grew to young manhood(.) His friends and acquaintances here are many and they will be sorry to hear of his death.
He was a graduate of the Fairfield high school and was accounted a young man of promise.
In 1896 he was united in marriage to a young lady in Missouri and they made their home in different parts of that state untill (sic) about a year ago when Mr. JAQUE-S health began to fail and they sought relief for him in various healthgiving localities.
Last August Mr. JAQUES was advised by his physician to go to the south land and accordingly he bade his wife good bye and went to Arizona where he hoped to regain his stregth (sic). He grew gradually weaker and about December first went to San Antonio, Texas where he entered a hospital and there lost the battle with the White Plague.
He is survived by his wife, one sister Mrs. Cornelia MAGGIO of St. Louis, Mo., and one brother, Edward JAQUES of North Dakota, and his parents.

Page 2, Column 3JOSEPH W. JOQUES (sic) FUNERAL SUNDAY.
The funeral of Joseph W. JAQUES who died last Wednesday in San Antonio, Texas, was held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the home of his parents on west Broadway. Rev. C. L. Tennant pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, conducted the last services and the remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery. His body was borne to its last resting place by six life long friends, Frank Shriner, Charles Gage, David Ricketts, Delzel Green, Joe S. Crail and Hiram Mikesell.
Some time ago he joined the Salvation Army organization and had been trying to serve his Heavenly Father according to his best knowledge and belief. Rev. Tennant read a part of a letter written by Mr. JAQUES to his father only a short time before his death in which he told of his effort to live the christian life.
The last services were largely attended by schoolmates and friends of the deceased and the floral offerings were many and beautiful.
Among those who were called here to attend the funeral of Joe JAQUES yesterday were: Mrs. Corniela MAGGIO and two children of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Kate Dougherty of Ottumwa, Eugene JAQUES, of Burlington, Charles Crawford Fremont, Frank JAQUES of Ottumwa, Thomas JAQUES of Eldon and Willam JAQUES of Kilbourne.
