Services to be held Tuesday for long-time residentMrs. Robert ISRAEL, 89, long-time resident of this community, passed away Sunday morning at 6:55 o'clock at the Jefferson county hospital. Mrs. ISRAEL had spent the past six months in the local hospital. With the exception of the past few years, which she spent with her daughter in Portland, Ore., se (sic) had lived her entire life in Fairfield.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Murray Funeral Home. Services will be in charge of Rev. H. C. Whiting, and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. ISRAEL was born February 12, 1851, at Sheridan, N. Y. With her family, she came to this community when she was five years old. She was preceded in death by her husband and son Harry.
Surviving are one son, Lon H. ISRAEL of Eldon, two daughters, Mrs. J. A. STEWART of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. F. A. SPIELMAN of Fairfield, and one brother, Hazen WHITE of Libertyville.

Annie Esther WHITE was born in Sheridan, Chautauqua county, New York, Feb. 12, 1851 daughter of Marvin and Polly WHITE sister of Leorrett, Thomas, Hazen and Jesse. Hazen, the only surviving member of the family, resides in Libertyville, Iowa. She was baptized in the Methodist faith at an early age. The family moved to Fairfield in 1855, later to Richland, where she spent her girlhood days.
In 1869 she married Robert ISRAEL of Richland. Four children were born to them, Lon H. ISRAEL, Eldon; Mrs. J. A. STEWART, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Fred SPIELMAN, Fairfield and Harry, their youngest child, who passed away in 1903, at the age of twenty-one.
The ISRAEL family came to Fairfield in 1884. After Mr. ISRAEL passed away in 1922, Mrs. ISRAEL spent much of her time in Portland, Ore. and Palo Alto, Calif. where she helped to make a home for her grandsons, Harry, Delmer and Hugh, who were students in Leland Stanford university. Always much interested in young people and in the lives of her grandsons and their education.
After their graduation, she returned to Portland, Ore. where her eldest grandson, Robert was a student ni (sic) the University of Oregon medical college. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. STEWART, the past ten years. She always called Fairfield home--and in her late illness expressed a desire to return, which was granted some months ago.
She passed away Dec. 1, 1940. Services were in charge of Dr. H. C. Whiting. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
