Front Page, Column 2W. B. IRELAND DIED SUDDENLY THIS MORNING
Well known Methodist minister in usual health yesterdayRev. W. Brooks IRELAND, 78, retired Methodist minister, passed away suddenly this morning at his home, 303 West Washington street. Mrs. IRELAND discovered her husband to be in a serious condition and had just called neighbors when death came about 2:00 a.m.
Rev. IRELAND was born October 14, 1864 near Brookville. He spent his entire live (sic) in this section of Iowa. His early manhood was spent on a farm. In 1893 he was accepted on trial as a minster in the Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie and one son, Raymond M. IRELAND, now in the U. S. service. Two sisters, Mrs. N. E. GARDNER of Downers Grove, Ill. and Mrs. Nettie SANCE (sic - VANCE) of Ava, Kansas and one brother J. E. IRELAND, Fairfield, survive him.
Also surviving are two grandchildren Keith and Raymond IRELAND, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. from the Fairfield First Methodist church. Dr. M. A. Gable will have charge of the service assisted by Rev. G. W. BAKER, Eldon. The address will be made by Dr. U. S. Smith of New London.
The body was brought to the Weston Behner Funeral home.
His first appointment was at Unionville, Iowa, 1893 to 1894. Following this he served the following churches, Cedar, Lovilia, Durham, Mount Union, West Point, Drakesville, Pulaski Libertyville, Muscatine South, Kellogg, Donnellson, Fairfield circuit, Wayland, Mt. Union, Malcolm, Thornburg, Fremont, Packwood, Lovilia and Milton. He was retired in 1934.
Rev. IRELAND was admitted to the former Iowa Conference of the Methodist church on trial in 1893. He was given his full membership in 1895.
Since his retirement in 1934, Rev. and Mrs. IRELAND have made their home here in Fairfield.

Last rites for Rev. W. B. IRELAND, retired minister, who passed away at his home Wednesday morning, will be held at 3:00 p.m. from the First Methodist church Sunday.
Ministers who will officiate are Dr. M. A. Gable, Dr. U. S. Smith of New London, former pastor of the Methodist church here, and Rev. G. W. BAKER of Eldon.
The body will be taken from the Weston Behner funeral home to the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday where it will lie in state until time for the services.
Pallbearers will be ministers associated with Rev. IRELAND in the Iowa-Des Moines conference. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

RICHWOODS, Apr. 17 -- Relatives of Mrs. Guy GAKER (sic) came Saturday and Sunday at the Guy BAKER home to attend the funeral services of their uncle Rev. W. B. IRELAND held at Fairfield on Sunday afternoon.
Those who came Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. A. F. ANDERSON of Ottumwa, Mrs. Ruby PATTERSON, Mrs. Ruth ADAMS and daughter Joan of Keokuk.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. William WARE and Mrs. Walter YOUNG came from Ottumwa.
R. J. IRELAND and Charles IRELAND of Fairfield were additional dinner guests on Sunday.
Mrs. Ruby PATTERSON of Keokuk will spend the week visiting relatives and friends. ...
