Funeral services are planned on Sunday, 3:00 p.m.Mrs. Ora Edith IRELAND, 66 of Fairfield died at 10:45 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital following an extended illness. She suffered a stroke on Sept. 18, and again on Oct. 13, and was taken to the hospital in a serious condition Oct. 10.
She was born on a farm near Fairmont, Mo., on July 20, 1875. She married R. J. IRELAND in Fairfield on Sept. 18, 1912. Surviving are the husband at home, one son Lloyd H. SIMMONS at Ottumwa, a step daughter Mrs. Bessie MELVIN of Fairburg, Neb.; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and a brother, Herbert E. CALDWELL in El Paso, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Christian church with the Rev. S. P. Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hoskins funeral home Sunday to the church at 2 p.m.

Ora Edith, third of the four children of Addison B. and Samantha J. CALDWELL was born on a farm near Fairmount, Clark Co., Missouri on July 20, 1875. She passed away on Thursday October 16, 1941 when past 66 years of age.
She was married to Cornelius J. SIMMONS on June 12, 1895 and three children were born to them. Mr. SIMMONS passed away October 1, 1907 and two of the children, Iona Mae and Roscoe preceded her in death.
On September 18, 1912 she was married to Rollin J. IRELAND and has lived happily in this union for over 29 years. Surviving her are her husband, her son Floyd Harold SIMMONS of Ottumwa, a step daughter Mrs. Bessie MELVIN of Fairbury, Nebraska, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One brother Herbert C. CALDWELL of El Paso Texas survives but because of illness he was unable to attend the funeral.
Mrs. IRELAND was a faithful member of the First Christian church of Fairfield and when able was always at her place in the church life and activities. Her Christian faith was a sustaining influence n (sic) her life. She was a member of the Rebekah order of the I. O. O. F. being affiliated with Hawkeye Lodge, No. 386, and she was a member of the Royal Neighbors. A good wife and loving mother, kindly and thoughtful to all she will be remembered by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances who will mourn her passing. Mrs. IRELAND has been ill for the past four years and for over two years has steadily declined and grown weaker. A month ago she became worse and while all was done to relieve her that was possible she passed away at the Jefferson County Hospital last Thursday morning at 10:45.
Funeral services with large delegations from groups Mrs. IRELAND was identified with were held at the First Christian church on Sunday afternoon conducted by the minister, S. P. Williamson. The hymns were sung by Mrs. S. P. Williamson and Mrs. Norvell Switzer with Mrs. William Stever at the piano. Pallbearers were Guy McCormick, Rolla Edwards, John Kyle, Ray Cornell, Otis Anderson and Raymond Anderson. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery.
